Description:

Works as part of a team to implement public relations strategies to influence public opinions, foster relationships and promote public awareness of Agency services. Assists in the achievement of the agency’s vision, “For Those We Serve,” by empowering individuals who thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and contributing members of our communities.
Duties:Assesses and coordinates the development of strategic, creative concepts and marketing plans.
Implements public relations strategies to educate the public about the significant role EOC plays in the community.
Evaluates prospective marketing channels and means for increasing the Agency’s public imaging opportunities and improve the transparency and efficacy of the organization.
Works with various internal and external programs to implement promotional campaigns in all types of media that enhance external communication efforts.
Proactively solicits media-worthy material to highlight Agency accomplishments, new partnerships and ventures, testimonials, and milestones.
Directly engages elected leaders to keep them aware of the positive news about EOC.
Works with local television and radio stations to promote Agency activities through public service announcements.
Writes press releases for the promotion of Agency programs and places in appropriate news media.
Creates Agency public relations materials that effectively describe and promote the Agency, including newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, print ads, radio scripts and other promotional resources.
Acts as an ambassador for the Agency.
Works with outside vendors such as graphic designers, printers, and photographers to ensure that all communications reflect the standards and mission of the Agency.
Facilitates appropriate translation of promotional materials as needed to reach targeted audiences.
Conducts relevant research, interviews, and other information gathering necessary to produce timely, accurate, and representative promotional materials.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of promotional materials and efforts.
Represents the Agency publicly at meetings and other activities as required/directed; maintains positive community and public relations.
Advises and supports Executive Management on Agency-wide projects related to marketing and promotions.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field.
Minimum three years marketing/public relations experience, that includes demonstrated experience in media and government relations, promotional campaigns and social media.
Previous experience in journalism, writing or editorial work.
Ability to think strategically, and effectively plan and execute marketing/public relations tactics.
Demonstrated experience working in crisis communications and issues management.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal, writing and editing skills and experience in media presentations.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of the low-income community. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of diverse cultures.
Computer skills, including word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets and data base management.
California Driver license and adequate auto insurance.
